Chess Match began creating electronic music initially around the year 2001 and has recorded under various names and projects ever since. Max has acted in and directed several independent films and has been a member of various nationally touring rock bands. After building up dozens of songs, compositions, sound experiments, and demos, he released his first song under the “Chess Match” name in March, 2011. It was a remix for the song “Muzzy” by rapper, GDP. Max created all of the synth textures and drum beats from scratch.
Later in May, 2012, he was commissioned to compose all of the original music for the independent horror film, ERASERS II. He later starred in the short indie comedy film, Bonus Stash, in June, 2012, which also included a soundtrack featuring GDP. Chess Match began to work on his debut EP soon after the release of that film.
